WSVG Louisville: The Latest

WSVG Louisville has begun as has the CS1.6 event with top teams like SK-Gaming and NiP in attendance.

What seemed to be an unexciting event has turned into somewhat of a surprise with teams like NiP,SK-Gaming, mousesportsand 69N-28Eattending. Although Turmoiland Desire 2 Excel(both USA) were the top two seeds, surely nobody will be able to take on the European contenders. However, while this news might be surprising to some of you, the reason for such seedings is probably because only the top two USA teams will be eligible for the berths in the ESWC Finals which this tournament holds.

The tournament begun this afternoon over here in Europe (morning in Louisville) however was subject to delays. There were several reasons for this, one due to network issues, matches were pushed back. However, some of the European players also had problems in the American airports. One such player was mousesports' very own Navid "Kapio" Javadi who was held up by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at the CharlotteDouglas International Airport shortly before the WSVG event..

So, matches officially begun at 20:30 CET. There are 33 teams competing, split into 8 groups. The top two teams will then proceed do a double elimination where they will fight out for some serious cash.

HLTV.orgis covering the event, our coverage page can be found here. Due to the earlier problems of network issues however there is no HLTV at the current moment (00:00 CET) but as soon as we can bring it to you, we will! Stay tuned for more updates!

UPDATE: The Group stage is nearlly over and will move into the the double elimination stage sometime today (around 18:00CET).
